Meet Our Burgers: A Guide to Every Indian-Style Burger in Vancouver
If you've never had an Indian burger before, the concept can sound like a novelty — until you actually eat one. At Indian Burger Joint on Kingsway, every burger starts from a real Indian dish (a street snack, a home-style curry, a restaurant classic) and gets rebuilt in burger form: a patty, a bun, and everything a burger should be, but carrying real desi flavour instead of a plain patty. Most of our burger menu is vegetarian, with a large portion vegan or vegan on request. Whether you grew up eating this food or you're trying it for the first time, every burger here is built with real desi flavour first, not bolted on as an afterthought.
Here's a walk through every burger we make, organized the way our menu is.
Classic Burgers — Rooted in Everyday Indian Flavour
This section is built around the flavours of Indian home cooking and roadside stalls — the kind of food that's comforting whether you grew up on it in Delhi, Mumbai, or a Punjabi household in Surrey, or you're tasting it for the first time.
- Junior Veggie Burger — a simple, approachable veggie patty for anyone easing into the menu.
- Spicy Aloo Tikki Burger — the classic North Indian potato patty (aloo tikki), spiced and pan-fried, in burger form.
- Cheesy Aloo Chilli Burger — aloo tikki's spicier cousin, loaded with chilli and melted cheese.
- Pav Bhaji Blast Burger — built around pav bhaji, Mumbai's beloved buttery mixed-vegetable mash, usually eaten with soft bread (pav) — here, that bread is the bun.
- Noodle Nirvana Burger — an Indo-Chinese-inspired patty for anyone who loves the noodle-and-chilli-sauce combination popular at Indian street stalls.
World Classics — Global Flavours, Reimagined
This section looks outward — flavours from across the world (and one iconic piece of Mumbai street food) filtered through the same fully plant-based lens.
- Chipotle Bean Burger (vegan) — smoky Mexican-inspired heat.
- Golden Falafel Burger (vegan) — Middle Eastern falafel, done properly crispy.
- Cheesy Bean Burgerito — part burger, part burrito.
- VadaPav Street Burger — this one deserves its own mention: vada pav is often called "the original Indian burger," Mumbai's most iconic street food — a spiced, deep-fried potato ball (vada) in a soft bun (pav) with garlic and coriander chutneys. If you know vada pav already, this is the real thing in burger format. If you don't, this is the single best introduction to what "Indian burger" actually means.
- Crispy Tofu Burger (vegan) — crunchy tofu for anyone who wants texture over heaviness.
Paneer Delight — Paneer as the Patty
Paneer — fresh Indian cottage cheese, firm and mild, that holds its shape and develops a golden crust when cooked — is one of the best meat-free burger patties there is, and this section is entirely built around it.
- Paneer Perfection Burger — mild and classic, a great starting point.
- Jain Paneer Zesty Burger — made Jain-friendly (no onion, no garlic) without losing flavour.
- Juicy Chilli Paneer Burger — built around Chilli Paneer, the beloved Indo-Chinese dish, turned into a burger.
- Peri Peri Paneer Burger — Portuguese-African peri peri heat meets paneer.
- Ultimate Paneer Makhni Burger — inspired by paneer makhni (butter paneer), rich and mildly sweet-savoury.
